byron bay lighthouse weddings

iconic, picturesque, magnificent, beautiful, jaw dropping views!! some of the words that come to mind when describing the byron bay lighthouse to our brides and grooms. with breathtaking views, that expand over a dramatic coastline, turquoise waters not to mention a striking hinterland backdrop, it’s no surprise why the cape byron lighthouse is fast becoming one of the most desired ceremony locations for byron bay weddings.

standing tall on the most easterly point of the australian mainland, the cape byron lighthouse was built at the turn of the 19th century to protect ships passing along the coast. long gone are the resident keepers but the light still burns strong and is as well-known as the township itself.

nestled in the dunes at the bottom of the cape byron headland is the byron beach café, making it an easy five minute drive from the lighthouse and a perfect location for many happy couples wanting to incorporate a casual, yet elegant and effortless affair to say those important vows and showcase the unmistakable beauty of byron bay to their guests.

here’s a few tips on how to how to organise the perfect byron bay lighthouse wedding.

first things first, you’ll need to organise a permit to hold your ceremony at the byron bay lighthouse. there are limited times (& durations) when ceremonies can take place at the byron bay lighthouse precinct so check before booking or contact one of our wedding planners to help you with all the required council permits and paperwork. click here to find out more

is limited. you’ll have to arrange for your guests to be transported by bus up to the byron bay lighthouse. this can easily be managed by having your pick up location at the byron beach café, with guests getting dropped back after your ceremony with our friendly staff to greet them with a celebratory glass of champagne or cocktail on arrival. make sure you advise any suppliers of the limited parking facilities and access available.

check the calendar

there’s no denying byron’s mark on the map as a popular tourist destination, so you may want to consider not only a back-up plan in case of bad weather, but more importantly how busy it might be. peak periods like easter and christmas are probably best avoided.
